Ather Energy Shares Rally Nearly 6% After Q2 Profit: Why Is the Stock Rising? Brokerage Targets In Focus

Shares of electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy rose nearly 6% after the company reported its first-ever quarterly net profit of Rs 1.26 crore in Q2 FY27, compared to a net loss of Rs 154.07 crore the previous year. The company's revenue from operations rose by 63% year-on-year to Rs 1,464.24 crore in the Q2, compared with around Rs 899 crore the year-ago quarter. The return to profitability marks a significant milestone for the electric scooter maker, which has been investing heavily in product development, distribution and manufacturing capacity. The firm sold 93,211 electric scooters during the quarter, a year-upon-year volume growth of about 42%.

Three Russian diesel tankers steam for US — including one under sanctions

Three tankers laden with Russian diesel, including one blacklisted by European authorities, are set to arrive at US ports next week, raising legal risks for firms involved in bringing the fuel into the country. The shipments, totalling around 140,000 tonnes, are the first licensed by US authorities under President Donald Trump's recent deal with Vladimir Putin to exempt Russian diesel from sanctions in a bid to reduce soaring US fuel prices and retain control of Congress. The vessels include the Hong Kong-owned, Sierra Leone-flagged tanker Leruo, which is sanctioned by the UK, EU and Canada and is expected to arrive on the US “Atlantic coast” on November 11. The Leruo was sanctioned by European officials in 2025 for carrying Russian cargoes and using “high-risk practices” including turning off its location technology and engaging in ship-to-ship cargo transfers, violating a price cap imposed by the G7 on Russian oil cargos. The deal has been met with criticism from Congress, including a bipartisan group of senators who have called on the president to rescind it.

WTI Forecast: Holds below $100.00 as Mideast risks limit downside

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil price has remained below $100.00 for the second consecutive day, with traders speculating about further developments in the Middle East. Despite optimism over a resolution in the US-Israeli war on Iran, there are concerns about supply disruption due to stalled US-Iran talks and renewed attacks by Iran-backed Houthis on Saudi Arabia. The Lebanese armed group Hezbollah is reportedly preparing for a potential resumption of hostilities with Israel. Technical support is seen at the 23.6% Fibo retracement at $99.42, followed by the 38.2% retracements at $96.97 and the 50% level at $94.98. The value of the US Dollar also influences the price of WTI Crude Oil, as oil is primarily traded in US Dollars. OPEC decisions, such as OPEC quotas, often impact WTI Oil prices.

Environmentalists celebrate Lula's reelection in Brazil: 'The Amazon can breathe a sigh of relief'

Environmentalists, Indigenous groups and climate scientists are celebrating the reelection of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who defeated Sen. Flávio Bolsonaro in a runoff. The victory is seen as a significant step towards preventing illegal deforestation of the Amazon, the world's largest rainforest. However, supporters have warned that a Congress dominated by the far right and the agribusiness caucus could undermine efforts to protect the forest and combat climate change. Lula's victory reflects shifts in voter support and higher turnout nationwide, with Indigenous communities and advocacy groups mobilizing voters and securing government transportation for remote areas. However he has previously supported controversial policies, including efforts to drill for oil in offshore waters near the Amazon.

Netanyahu’s Political Survival at Stake as Israel’s Elections Begin

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing a battle in the parliamentary elections, where he is assessed for his leadership following the 2023 attacks by Hamas and wars in Gaza and with Iran. Despite being Israel's longest-serving leader with 19 years in power, Netanyahu remains a formidable opponent due to entrenched nationalist politics and the divided system in Israel. Polls indicate a tight race between Netanyahu's Likud party and his right-wing allies, and a rival alliance led by Gadi Eizenkot, a former military chief known for his hard-line security stance. Netanyahu is focusing his campaign on his wartime leadership and alliance with US President Donald Trump, who publicly supported the Prime Minister and joined Israel in the war on Iran. If neither can form a ruling coalition, Netanyahu may lead a caretaker government until another election next year.

5 things to watch from the Federal Reserve's next meeting

The Federal Reserve is expected to keep its key interest rate unchanged at its next meeting, but investors and economists will be closely following the statement. The meeting, which will also be the fourth of Chairman Kevin Warsh's tenure, raises questions about his independence from President Donald Trump. This comes just six days before the midterm elections, which have been marked by high mortgage rates and high gas prices. The average 30-year mortgage rate reached a three-year high of 7.4% earlier this month before slipping to 7.32%. Further rate hikes could push mortgage rates even higher. If Warsh reiterates his statements that inflation is too high, and the Fed intends to return it to 2% in a "timelier" fashion, economists and investors will see this as a sign the Fed will likely hike rates at its meeting in December.
