Alausa-led coalition has launched the ‘Hire From Nigeria” Campaign, a market-focused push to place Nigerian professionals and service providers directly in front of global employers, outsourcing firms and investors. The initiative will be driven by the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP), alongside private-sector and development partners. The goal is to secure one million jobs tied to exports by 2030. Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, emphasised that Nigeria already has a large pool of professionals, an expanding tech ecosystem, a robust services sector and a favorable time zone for overseas contracts, foreign exchange and investment. The campaign will go global during the 81st United Nations General Assembly, where BPO buyers, international employers, investors and strategic partners will be invited to explore hiring and investment opportunities.

Descartes has acquired Extensiv, a California-based warehouse and inventory management company, expanding its reach into the 3PL and ecommerce fulfillment market. Extensivo helps 3PLs manage inventory, orders, B2B and B2C fulfillment, and billing across a network of sales channels, ecommerce platforms, online marketplaces, and carriers. Descartes acquired Extveniv for approximately $120 million, satisfied from cash on hand. This acquisition follows Descarte's acquisition of Tai, a business that provides AI-powered transportation management solutions for freight brokers. The acquisition adds more participants, more contextually rich operational data and fulfillment intelligence to DescartES' Global Logistics Network (GLN). DescartEs powers more responsive, efficient, secure and sustainable international and domestic supply chains on its Global Logistic Network ( GLN).

UK regulator suspends Amgen's Tavneos for new patients over unreliable data
UK's medicines regulator has suspended the use and sale of Amgen's rare-disease drug, Tavneos, to new patients due to unreliable data from the main study supporting its approval. The drug, sold as Avacopan Vifor in Britain by CSL Vifors, is used to treat severe autoimmune diseases and can damage the kidneys and lungs. The regulator plans to revoke the UK approval on March 1, 2027. Patients already receiving the drug can continue for six months while doctors consider alternatives. The European Commission revoked Tavneous' approval in August after finding the key trial data unreliable. The U.S. FDA has also proposed withdrawing the drug citing unproven effectiveness and false statements in the original application.

Man appears in court charged with house fire murders
Jaden Wright, a 23-year-old man from no fixed address, has been charged with murdering Natalie McDonald, 34, and Valentina Foster, four others, in a house fire in Grangetown, near Middlesbrough. He appeared before Teesside Magistrates' Court and was remanded in custody to appear at Teessides Crown Court on Thursday. The charges relate to the six people in the house, two of whom cannot be identified due to their age. The court clerk stated that Wright also faces a separate charge of intentional strangulation. A 31-year man who was also arrested in connection with the case was released without charge on Sunday.

Bharat VECTO beta version launched as govt looks at technology-agnostic norms
The Indian government has launched the Bharat VECTO Vehicle Energy Consumption Tool (Bharat VectO), a simulation tool developed by the European Commission to calculate the fuel efficiency of heavy-duty commercial vehicles running on different fuel technologies. The beta version of VECTo is set to be launched in February 2027. Major changes to the tool include a modified Graphical User Interface and the addition of new vehicle categories such as tippers, intercity buses and city buses. The project is led by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), with support from Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), and the European Union Joint Research Centre as the Technical Partner. The VECTOs may replace the current physical CSFC (Constant Speed Fuel Consumption) test procedure. While there's a muti-technology approach being considered for policy-making, electric vehicles, particularly commercial vehicles, may receive support to achieve scale.

Goldwind has signed a cooperation agreement with Inova Elektrik Üretim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., the wind energy arm of Gulsan Holding, to supply 78 MW of capacity for the Metristepe wind farm extension in Bilecik Province, adding 78 MW to the site's total installed capacity to 118 MW. The turbines will be delivered for the extension of the Metrisepe site, which has been in commercial operation since 2011.

Medtronic boosts fiscal 2027 forecasts on heart device demand
